How do YOU Yoga?

I have a love hate relationship with yoga. After a good class with the right instructor, you feel light, energized, and stretched out in all the right spots. When I do yoga at home I feel bored, restless, I'm hating ever second of it and can rarely get through a 30 minute routine.

Earlier this year I had gotten a great deal at Yogaworks, and at one point I was going 2-3 times a week for a few months. Once my membership there ended however, I think I can count the number of times I did yoga on my own on one hand. It also didn't help that I had developed severe neck pain due to several compressed discs in my neck, possibly due to an improper yoga practice. (Damn you headstands!)

For those at home yogis....how do you do it? Where do you find your routines? Do you make up your own? How do you stay engaged/interested? I would love to focus on stretching and keeping everything loose and injury free before Marine Corps (22 days!) but I just can't seem to get past the opening ohms.

  1. Maybe you could check out the P90X yoga. Ive heard that it is super intense, and maybe the intensity will help you avoid getting bored. Good luck at the marathon! Kick some butt!

  2. I've done the p90x yoga. It IS intense-to the point where some of the moves are not accessible for me. I have not been bored per se, and it is a nice long workout. I do get tired of Tony's incessant babbling so i would warn you of that.
